Sophomore harrier Rosa Moriello (Naugatuck, Conn.) was named to the NCAA All-Northeast Region Team, as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
A total of 450 athletes earned All-Region awards for cross country in Division I following last weekend's NCAA Regional Championships. Student-athletes that finished in the top 25 individually at one of the nine regional sites earned the honor.
Moriello finished 18th at the Northeast Regional just outside Buffalo, N.Y., on Saturday. She was one of four America East runners to be named to the All-Region Team.
Her performance at the NCAA Regional capped off an impressive sophomore season for the Naugatuck, Conn., native. She placed fifth at the America East Championships on Oct. 29, earning All-Conference honors as a result of her strong showing. She also led the Terriers with a fourth-place finish at the Bryant Invitational on Sept. 10 and a third-place performance at the Codfish Bowl on Sept. 24. Moriello was named America East Performer of the Week after her race at the Codfish Bowl.
BU concluded its cross country season at the Northeast Regional and will now focus on the track & field season, which begins in full on Jan. 19, 2012, with a Multi-Team Meet at the Track and Tennis Center.
