October 12, 2012 | Women's Rowing
BOSTON - After losing by 1 second in the first race of the day, the BU women's rowing team defeated Boston College in the second of two races on Saturday morning to split the day's event.
Coxed by Junior Sarah Specht and stroked by junior Mackenzie Wiler, the BU varsity eight boat defeated BC by 39 seconds in the second race of the day after a razor thin defeat earlier in the morning.
The two teams competed on the same course that will be used for the 48th annual Head of the Charles Regatta held on Oct. 20-21.
Dana Hiniker replaced junior Kerry Kennedy in BU's 2V8 boat in the second race after Kennedy was removed due to flu like symptoms.
