BOSTON - The NBA Development League's Fort Wayne Mad Ants selected Boston University men's basketball alum Darryl Partin ('12) with the first pick of the fourth round in the 2012 draft on Friday night.
Named America East Player of the Year last March, Partin was the 49th overall pick and will join a club that serves as the official affiliate for the NBA's Charlotte Bobcats, Detroit Pistons, Indiana Pacers and Milwaukee Bucks.
Receiving All-America honorable mention recognition from the Associated Press, Partin shouldered the brunt of the Terriers' offensive load last season, scoring 19.6 points per game, which ranked second in the America East and 23rd in the country. He also accounted for 31 percent of his team's output, the highest rate of any player in the conference.
An All-Conference First Team choice for the second straight season, Partin tallied over 20 points 15 times and twice earned America East Player of the Week honors (Nov. 28, Feb. 13).
The native of Seattle, Wash., during the winter became the 31st Terrier to reach the 1,000-point milestone and just the sixth to score a combined 1,000+ points in his junior and senior seasons. Season highlights included Partin scoring 25 of his career-high 33 points in the second half at Albany to help BU rally from a 17-point deficit for the 81-78 victory.
