
Cheng and Matyas Win AE Weekly Honors

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - For the second consecutive week, two members of the Boston University women’s swimming and diving team have received weekly honors from the America East, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon.
Sophomore Kendra Cheng earned Swimmer of the Week honors after posting a posting a pair of individual victories for the Terriers in their 192-102 win at Boston College on Feb. 3. The Foxboro, Mass., native placed first in the 100 backstroke (58.36) and also won the 200 backstroke (2:04.87). Cheng also swam a leg of the victorious 200 medley relay team that finished in 1:49.69.
This is the second weekly honor for the sophomore this season, as Cheng was also named Swimmer of the Week on Oct. 18.
Junior Melinda Matyas received her second straight Diver of the Week award after sweeping the 1-meter and 3-meter events against Boston College last Friday. The Budapest, Hungary native accumulated 259.65 points off the 1-meter board and scored 263.25 points in the 3-meter event.
Matyas was also named America East Diver of the Week on Jan.31, after sweeping the diving events in BU’s meet against Brown and Columbia.
