Senior Katie Matthews was named the most valuable performer for the 2011 women's cross country team.

Matthews only ran two races during the season but was successful in both of them, including a first-place finish at the New England Championships. She set a new personal-best in that event with a time of 17:18. Her victory helped the Terriers claim second place as a team.

The Rocky Hill, Conn., native then went on to finish second at the America East Championships with a time of 16:54.66, three seconds behind the winner. Her performance helped guide the Terriers to second place in the conference.
