After setting three records at the 2012 America East Swimming and Diving Championship, Amanda Schmitz has been named Most Valuable Player of the Boston University women’s swimming team.
Schmitz posted the fastest time in America East history with her first place performance in the 200m butterfly at the conference championship with a time of 1:59.01. She also picked up another first place finish in the 500m freestyle with a school record time of 4:50.39 and broke the school record in the 400 IM (4:16.40) with a second place showing. The Pleasanton, Calif., native also swam in three relays at the America East Championship, including the winning 800 freestyle relay team.
The America East All-Academic Team member was a leader for the Terriers during the regular season. Schmitz posted seven top five finishes in the 500m freestyle and claimed two victories and one second place finish in the 200m butterfly.
