CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Junior Rich Peters of the Boston University men's cross country team was named America East Performer of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.

Peters earned the honor after he cruised to a victory in his season debut on Sept. 14 at the New Hampshire Invitational. He finished the course more than a full minute faster than his next-closest competitor, crossing the finish line with a time of 25:07.81. Peters' average mile time was 5:03.4, nearly 13 seconds faster than the second-place athlete.

Thanks in part to Peters' performance, the Terriers won their second straight team title. Peters was one of four BU harriers in the top 10 of an event that featured conference foes UNH, Albany, Maine and Vermont.

BU will be back in action on Sept. 28 when the Terriers trek to Bethlehem, Pa., to compete at the Lehigh Invitational.
