Swimming & Diving Concludes Day One of Terrier Invitational

BOSTON - The Boston University swimming and diving teams competed in day one of the Terrier Invitational on Friday at BU's Competition Pool. Through five events, the BU men are in first place of the three men's teams competing with 349 points. The BU women are third in the field of six women's teams with a total of 139.5 points.
The quartet of juniors Cole Puchi, Ryan Bach, Andy Vazquez and freshman Brian Habacivch finished second in the 200 freestyle relay for the Terriers (1:23.13) while the group of freshman Austin Dickey, juniors Connor Stuewe, Lincoln Kupke and senior Curtis Hon also earned points with a fourth-place finish (1:24.58).
Sophomore Tanner Cridland posted the top time in the 500 freestyle for the BU men, clocking in at 4:35.67 for fourth place. Senior Jeff Thomas (4:36.35) and Stuewe (4:38.35) were right behind him for fifth and sixth, respectively.
Sophomore Mun Hon Lee posted the best finish for the BU men by winning the 200 IM in 1:51.19.
Puchi (21.13), Vazquez (21.27) and Habacivch (21.37) finished third through fifth in the 50 freestyle while the BU men wrapped up day one with a victory in the 400 medley relay. Stuewe, Dickey, Bach and Puchi won with a time of 3:18.29.
On the women's side, the Terriers' top 200 freestyle team of senior Kendra Cheng, sophomores Mika Spencer and Tess Harpur and freshman Lauren Dixon finished in sixth with a time of 1:37.46.
Sophomore Stephanie Nasson placed third in the 500 freestyle (4:57.22) followed by Spencer in fourth (5:00.45) and freshman Sarah Hargrave in sixth (5:03.69). Cheng later returned to the pool for a sixth-place finish in the 200 IM with a time of 2:06.34.
Junior Alexsa Savage and freshman Christy Wilde tied for seventh place in the 50 freestyle with matching times of 24.26 seconds.
Cheng, Dixon, Savage and junior Avery Visser closed out the day with an eighth-place showing in the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:56.11.
Day two of the Terrier Invitational will take place on Saturday (Nov. 23) at the Competition Pool. The preliminary races will be held at 10 a.m. followed by the finals beginning at 6 p.m.
