After scoring a season-high 25 points to help the Boston University men's basketball team earn an 83-77 win at Maryland, senior D.J. Irving has been named GoTerriers.com Student-Athlete of the Week.
A native of Chester, Pa., Irving was plagued by foul trouble the entire game and only played 22 minutes, the fewest since the ninth game of his rookie season. Still, the guard went 7-of-11, including 4-of-5 from the field, and added two steals.
He posted 15 points in the first half to give the Terriers a 42-32 halftime lead. In the second, he drained a 3-pointer and later went 7-of-10 from the charity stripe to seal BU's second victory in three seasons against the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Irving currently ranks No. 15 all-time at BU with 1,191 points and has now posted 20 or more points in three of the last five games.
