The Boston University men’s and women’s cross country teams and head coach Bruce Lehane announced their 2013 schedule, which includes the New England Championships at Franklin Park.
BU will begin the season at the Bryant Invitational on Sept. 7. The Terrier men combined to win that event last year and have boasted the last two individual champions at Bryant. Following a weekend off, both squads will travel to New Britain, Conn., for the Central Connecticut State Invitational.
The Terriers will host the New England Championships on Oct. 12 at Franklin Park. BU has produced the women’s individual champion in each of the last two years, with Monica Adler set to defend her 2012 title.
“We’re happy to have the New England Championships return to Franklin Park,” Lehane said. “It’s always fun to compete there and hopefully we’re able to build off of the success that we’ve had in that event over the last few years.”
History will be made on Nov. 2 when the Terriers compete at the Patriot League Championships in Easton, Pa. BU will then trek to Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx for the NCAA Northeast Regional. The NCAA Championships will be held in Terre Haute, Ind., on Nov. 23. Both the men’s and women’s teams finished higher than any other Patriot League school at last year’s Northeast Regional.
“We’re excited to compete at the Patriot League Championships for the first time,” Lehane said. “We’re also looking forward to racing at Van Cortlandt Park, which is a storied course. We always enjoy competing there.”
