NEW BRITAIN, Conn. - Junior Rosa Moriello's first-place performance helped lead the Boston University women's cross country team to its first victory of the season at the Ted Owen Invitational hosted by Central Connecticut State on Saturday morning.
Moriello was the top harrier among the 65-athlete field in her first race since the 2011 NCAA Northeast Regional. Senior Nikki Long also had a strong showing as she finished fourth for her second straight top-five performance.
Sophomore Shelby Stableford placed 10th while junior Ashli Tagoai and senior Janelle Jorgensen were 15th and 16th, respectively to help the Terriers finish with 46 points, three ahead of second-place Connecticut. All seven BU harriers placed in the top 25, with senior Ally Brillaud coming in 17th place and freshman Felicia Sciortino finishing 23rd.
A scoring malfunction during the women's race did not record the official times of the race. However, the places and team scores located in the team results page are accurate.
BU will be back in action on Oct. 12 when the Terriers host the New England Championships at Franklin Park.
