Terriers Begin Season at Nassaney Invitational

SMITHFIELD, R.I. - Senior Nikki Long finished third to lead the Boston University women's cross country team at the Nassaney Invitational on Saturday at Bryant University.
Long had a time of 18:02.5, less than 10 seconds behind the winner. She improved 39 spots from her 42nd-place finish at last season's event.
Sophomore Shelby Stableford placed 29th with a time of 19:15.4 to join Long in the top 30. Sophomore Erin Pierce (19:46.2) and junior Ashli Tagoai (19:47.8) finished 42nd and 43rd, respectively. Sophomore Jill Rosati turned in a time of 21:01.8 to round out the contingent of returning Terriers.
Four freshmen competed for the Terriers, as Felicia Sciortino (20:28.4), Sydney Lageux (20:29.9), Fiona Doolan (21:26.3) and Hannah Purtell (21:57.1) all made their collegiate debuts.
BU will enjoy a weekend off before returning to action on Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Ted Owen Invitational held at Central Conn. State
