Terriers Open Season at Nassaney Invitational

SMITHFIELD, R.I. - Three Terriers earned top-10 finishes as the Boston University men's cross country team opened the 2013 season at the Nassaney Invitational on Saturday at Bryant University.
Sophomores Kevin Thomas (15:41.3) and Alec Olson (15:42.9) finished sixth and seventh, respectively, while senior Michael Caputo turned in a 10th-place performance (15:52.5). BU was one of just two teams to have at least three runners in the top 10.
Paul Gennaro began his sophomore campaign with a time of 16:19.0 to finish 13th. Two freshmen helped complete the top 30, as Matti Groll (16:42.1) and Mike Ward (16:46.1) were 29th and 30th, respectively, in their collegiate debuts.
Junior John McKeon had a time of 16:51.3 to finish 32nd while freshmen Ethan Homan (17:11.7) and Tom Cunningham (17:21.3) finished 41st and 46th, respectively, in their first race as Terriers. Alex Civitano rounded out the BU contingent with a time of 17:49.2 to finish 53rd.
BU will enjoy a weekend off before returning to action on Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Ted Owen Invitational held at Central Conn. State.
