SCHEDULE | RESULTS
Coming off an impressive fourth-place finish among colleges in the Head of the Charles Regatta championship eight race, the Boston University men's rowing team will continue its fall season at the Princeton 3-Mile Chase on Sunday in Princeton, N.J.
The Terriers will send three boats to compete in the heavyweight 8 competition and four boats to compete in the heavyweight 4s. The Princeton 3-Mile Chase is a head-race hosted by Princeton University each October on the Sunday following the HOCR. For the second week in a row, BU will be competing against some of the strongest schools in the country including Princeton, Wisconsin, Yale, Cornell and Penn.
"Finishing fourth among colleges at the Head of the Charles really gave us a good start for the year," said junior co-captain Matt Magannis. "Going into the Princeton Chase, our last race of the fall in the 8's, we now have a target on our backs because none of the college crews that finished ahead of us will be at the Princeton Chase. I know that Princeton will be gunning for us because it is their home course and they haven't lost this regatta in a very long time. This weekend we will be racing the 8's in the morning followed by the 4's shortly after, so our goal is to have a strong finish in the 8 followed by a good start in the fours to set us up for the Foot of the Charles in a few weeks."
Last Sunday at the Head of the Charles Regatta, the Terriers proved once again they are among the very best collegiate crews in the nation. Two BU eights raced against the top colleges as well as crews that competed at the Olympic and World Championship stage.
The first varsity eight finished with a time of 14:39.73, good for eighth overall and fourth fastest amongst collegiate crews. Only Harvard, Cal, and defending IRA National Champion Washington were able to edge out BU's varsity eight (Cal, Washington and BU were all within 1 second).
The Terriers' second varsity eight finished in 19th place with a time of 15:05.08, the fastest time among all second varsity eight boats and ahead of varsity boats from Penn, Dartmouth and Cornell.
After the Princeton Chase, the Terriers will next compete in the Foot of the Charles on Nov. 22nd to complete their Fall schedule.
