CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Two Boston University cross country athletes were recognized by the Patriot League on Monday, as junior Erin Pierce of the women's team and freshman Liam O'Connell of the men's squad each won a weekly award.

Pierce was named Patriot League Female Runner of the Week while O'Connell was selected as PL Male Rookie of the Week. Both harriers competed at the Central Connecticut State Mini Meet on Friday. Pierce was the top finisher for the women, placing 29th with a time of 10:40.72 in the 3K race. O'Connell led all BU rookies on Friday with a time of 16:15.20 on the 5K course.

BU will be back in action on Saturday, Nov. 1, at the Patriot League Championships hosted by Lehigh. The women will look to defend their title at 11 a.m. before the men's race begins at 12 p.m.
