BRONX, N.Y. - Senior
Rosa Moriello finished 13th at the NCAA Women's Cross Country Northeast Regionals on Friday morning at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx. As a team, the Terriers finished 13th out of the 40 teams competing.
Junior Michelle Sumner was BU's second-best performer, finishing in 65th, while classmate Shelby Stableford was third amongst Terriers at 79th. Sophomore Sarah Saccoach (114th) and junior Erin Pierce (133rd) rounded out BU's top five.
Moriello improved on last year's performance, as she placed 25th as junior in 2013. After 9k on Friday, Moriello was in 10th place before staying with the pack to earn All-Region honors for the second time in as many years.
Iona had the top two finishers (Kate Avery, Rosie Clarke) to help it claim the regional title with 91 points. Providence (128) and Dartmouth (136) finished second and third, respectively.
The Terriers finished first amongst the four Patriot League schools, edging 14th-place Army. Moriello was the top peformer from the League with Lindsay Gabow of Army the closest competitor at 43rd.
