
BU Places Second at Terrier Invitational

BOSTON - Highlighted by four victories and 14 top-three results, the Boston University women's swimming & diving team placed second overall at the three-day Terrier Invitational over the weekend.
UMass won the event with 1,196 points with the Terriers tallying 1,006.5 points and Boston College finishing third at 747.5. Army (648) and Fairfield (153) rounded out the team scoring.
Senior Alexsa Savage led BU by scoring in eight different events. In the relays, she teamed with junior Stephanie Nasson, junior Mika Spencer and sophomore Sarah Hargrave for a three-second victory in the 800-yard freestyle relay and ended the competition with a two-second win in the 400 free relay with the assistance of Spencer, sophomore Isabella Olivares and sophomore Lauren Dixon.
Besides placing third in the 200 free relay, 200 IM relay and 400 IM relay, Savage also took second in the 100 free, fourth in the 200 free and 10th in the 50 free, respectively.
Freshman Nikki Bookwalter won the 200 backstroke event, topping UMass' Rebecca Quirie by two seconds. She also won two other races, the B Final (9th) in the 100 back and the C Final (17th) in the 400 IM relay.
Senior Avery Visser proved victorious in the 200 butterfly, as the Terriers dominated the event with five swimmers advancing to the A Final. Visser beat junior teammate Celia Simpson by 0.14 seconds. Senior Katie Kenney, Spencer and freshman Hannah Katz took spots 4-6 in the event.
Besides helping BU win the 800 free relay, Hargrave took second in the 500 free, missing out on first by three seconds. She also placed third in the 1650 free and seventh in the 200 free.
Junior Karla Ferrara had a pair of top-three results in the breaststroke events. She missed out on first in the 100 by 1.3 seconds and also placed third in the 200. During the diving events, freshman Lizzie Tillo led BU by taking fourth in the one-meter and fifth in the three-meter.
