Terriers Compete at Brown's feBRUINvite

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Members of the Boston University men's and women's swimming teams competed in the feBRUINvite hosted by Brown on Friday and Saturday as a final tune-up before next week's Patriot League Swimming and Diving Championships.
On the women's side, sophomore Anna Veselovsky won the 500 freestyle (5:04.22) while freshman Bianca Tocci took third in the 100 butterfly (1:01.06) and second in the 100 backstroke (1:04.31).
Veselovsky later returned to the pool to finish second in the 1650 freestyle (17:43.91) and third in the 100 freestyle (55.61) behind Tocci, who claimed second in 55.53.
On the men's side freshman Ian Ronda finished third in the 500 freestyle (4:52.61) and took second in the 1650 freestyle (16:42.73). He also swam the 200 freestyle (1:51.71).
Sophomore Greg Macchia competed for the Terriers and took fourth in the 50 freestyle (22.74) ahead of senior Peter Campbell (22.88). Macchia also placed fourth in the 200 freestyle (1:46.56) while Campbell took second in the 100 backstroke (54.06). Macchia later clocked in at 49.19 for third place in the 100 freestyle.
Campbell also swam the 100 breaststroke (1:01.69).
The Terriers look to claim their first Patriot League crowns at the 2014 Patriot League Championship hosted by Navy. The four-day competition begins on Wednesday (Feb. 16) in Annapolis, Md.
