CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Senior Allison Barwise, freshman Toria Levy and sophomore Michelle Sumner all received Patriot League weekly honors for their performances at the Raleigh Relays this past weekend, the conference announced on Monday.
Barwise was named Patriot League Female Field Athlete of the Week for the second straight time after she matched her NCAA-best mark of 1.84 meters in the high jump. She won by a comfortable margin, with the second-place athlete plateauing at 1.75 meters. It was Barwise's second straight first-place performance and she is well above the next-best Patriot League high jumper (1.70m).
Levy is the Patriot League Female Rookie of the Week for the second straight time after a fifth-place performance in the 400m hurdles. She had a time of 59.78, which is the top mark in the Patriot League and 27th in the nation. Levy's time this weekend is more than two seconds faster than her time last weekend. The Weston, Fla., native was also part of the 4x400m relay team which broke the school record with a time of 3:43.55.
Sumner was selected as Patriot League Female Track Athlete of the Week after she completed the 10,000m run in 35:23.32, putting her tops in the Patriot League and sixth in the nation. Her time is over three minutes ahead of the next-closest in the Patriot League. This is the first weekly award for Sumner.
BU will be back in action April 4-5 when the Terriers compete at both the Florida Relays and the Stanford Invitational.
