Seven Terriers Earn CRCA Honors
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Making its second consecutive appearance at the NCAA Championships, the reigning Patriot League champion Boston University women's rowing team will begin the three-day competition at Eagle Creek Park on Friday morning with the first heat set for 9:40 a.m.
The Terriers are guided by sixth-year head coach Stacey Rippetoe and will race against a field of 21 other NCAA Division I teams, including 10 other conference champions. Winner of five national titles with the last coming in 1992, BU is making its eighth overall appearance (1998-01, 03, 06, 13-14) at the NCAAs, which began in 1997.
Last season after winning the Colonial Athletic Association title, the team took 18th place overall at Eagle Creek Park and finished ahead of the conference champions from the Atlantic 10, West Coast Conference, Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference and the Patriot League.
Racing at 9:40 a.m., the varsity eight boat propelled the Terriers to the 2014 NCAAs by winning the Grand Final at the Patriot League Championship with a four-second margin of victory. The crew is seeded 21st and will race against No. 4 Brown, No. 5 Washington, No. 12 Indiana, No. 13 Harvard and No. 20 UMass (Atlantic 10 champion). The top two crews will advance to Saturday's semifinals, while the others will compete in the repechage later in the afternoon.
After claiming the bronze in the Patriot League's Grand Final, the 20th-seeded second varsity eight boat will race No. 4 Virginia, No. 5 UCLA, No. 12 Washington State, No. 13 USC and No. 21 UMass. Start time is set for 10:20 a.m.

The Terriers will be joined in the heat by No. 4 Stanford, No. 5 Washington, No. 12 Washington State, No. 13 Indiana and No. 21 UMass.
