August 20, 2014 | Women's Cross Country
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - The Boston University women's cross country team was selected as the unanimous favorite to repeat as Patriot League champion in a poll of the conference's head coaches and sports information directors.
Receiving all 18 first-place votes, the Terriers earned 162 points to top the poll. Coaches and sports information directors were not allowed to vote for their own school. Lehigh earned the remaining two first-place nods and finished second with 142 points. Navy was chosen third with 125 points, followed by Bucknell (123), Army (95), American (77), Holy Cross (70), Lafayette (52), Loyola (31) and Colgate (23).
BU, which won the 2013 championship, returns a veteran group of harriers in 2014. The Terriers have 18 letter winners back from last year's squad and return all four All-League runners, including individual champion Rosa Moriello. The senior is joined by classmate Monica Adler and juniors Shelby Stableford and Michelle Sumner, all of whom finished in the top 13 of last year's event.
Reigning Patriot League Coach of the Year Bruce Lehane and his team will begin the 2014 campaign on Sept. 6 at the Nassaney Invitational. The Patriot League Championships will take place on Nov. 1 at Lehigh.
