After helping lead the Terriers to a victory in the team’s season opener on Saturday, Michelle Sumner of the Boston University women’s cross country team has been named GoTerriers.com Student-Athlete of the Week.
Sumner’s second-place performance at the Nassaney Invitational hosted by Bryant University paced BU to first place in the seven-team field. She posted a time of 18:04.2, nearly eight seconds ahead of the next fastest competitor.
A native of Annandale, New Jersey, Sumner was an All-League selection last year after finishing 13th at the Patriot League Championship. Saturday’s showing is the best of her collegiate career.
