Women's Rowing Opens Season Against BC on Saturday
October 1, 2015 | Women's Rowing
The Boston University women's rowing team will open their fall 2015 season against Boston College on Saturday at the DeWolfe Boathouse beginning at 8:30 a.m.
Saturday’s race will be the Terriers’ last before BU competes at the 51st Head of the Charles Regatta on Oct. 17 and 18 with the DeWolfe Boathouse once again serving as the official starting line. The two teams will compete Saturday on the same course used for the HOC.
“We are excited to get started and get a good measure of where we are,” said head women’s rowing Stacey Rippetoe. “We have been training and gaining speed but you never know where you are until you have a race on the line.”
The BU openweights are coming off a 2014-2015 season highlighted by two bronze medal victories at the Patriot League Championships and a fourth place team finish, ahead of crews from Georgetown, MIT, Lehigh, Colgate and Loyola.
The BU lightweights are coming off a terrific 2014-15 season that saw them win two bronze medals at the IRA National Championship Regatta with all three BU boats finishing in the top four.
“I am looking for all the crews to go really hard,” added Rippetoe. “They will test their limits and see how fast they can get down the Head of the Charles course.”
Note: Saturday’s 8:30 a.m. start time is subject to change due to inclement weather.
