Terriers Take Home New England Championship

BOSTON - Led by two top-10 finishes, the Boston University men's cross country team won the New England Championship on Saturday at Franklin Park.
It is the first team title for the Terriers since 1993 and seventh in program history. BU totaled 143 points and won by a 33-point margin over Amherst, which was second with 176 points.
Seniors Kevin Thomas and Alec Olson led the Terriers on Saturday, with Thomas finishing third (24:34.3) and Olson crossing the line in ninth (24:54.2). Classmate Paul Gennaro was also impressive, as he finished 19th with a time of 25:14.4.
Freshman Alexander Seal continued his impressive freshman season with a 33rd-place performance (25:26.1), and he was followed by junior Ethan Homan in 86th place (25:55.2). Junior Matti Groll was the sixth Terrier in the top 100 thanks to a time of 26:03.9.
The Terriers will have one more race prior to the Patriot League Championships when they competed in the CCSU Mini Meet on Oct. 23.
