Following two dominant wins over Lehigh and Bucknell to open the season, the Boston University women's swimming and diving team debuted on the CollegeSwimming.com Division I Top-50 list, coming in at 47 following last weekend's meets.
The Terriers' performance also placed them at 11 in the Division I Mid-Major Top-50 list, the second-highest ranked Patriot League school, trailing only Navy who is ranked sixth this week.
The website, which has covered collegiate swimming and diving for the last 16 years, calculates the team scores based on the program's 27 best swims and best medley and freestyle relays and how they stack up to the US Open record in each event. BU totaled 658.38 points this week, which is just 40 points behind the first-place mid-major school (Florida Gulf Coast) and less than 20 points behind Navy.
For the last two weeks, BU claimed first place in 13 of 16 events against both the Mountain Hawks and the Bison, led by freshman Erin Nabney, who has won every race she has competed in this season including five individual first-place finishes and three relay wins. Nabney earned Patriot League Swimmer of the Week honors on Monday for her performance.
The Terriers are back in action on Saturday at UMass. Diving begins at 11 a.m. and swimming begins at 1 p.m. against the Minutewomen.
