
Terriers End Non-Conference Schedule against Kean Monday Afternoon

BOSTON - Before tipping off the Patriot League schedule, the Boston University men's basketball team will conclude the non-conference slate against Kean at Case Gym on Monday at 3 p.m.
The contest is part of a BU basketball doubleheader, as the women will first face regional rival Vermont at 1 p.m.
TERRIER TIDBITS
• BU needs a win to post a winning non-conference schedule for the second time in three years ... In 2013, the Terriers went 7-6 for the program's first above .500 performance since 2004-05.
• The Terriers are 2-2 at home with all four games going down to the wire ... They fell in overtime to defending CAA champion Northeastern, 87-84, and bounced back with a 69-64 win over Albany ... Back on Dec. 8, BU cut a 17-point deficit to three with one minute remaining but ultimately came up short against defending Ivy League champion Harvard, 75-69 ... Back on Dec. 21, they defeated a second squad coming off a postseason appearance in New Hampshire, 78-74, after holding off a late Wildcat charge.
• BU has held its last four opponents below 40 percent shooting ... Last season, the Terriers' longest streak was three games with wins over Wentworth, Holy Cross and Lehigh.
• The Terriers have three men averaging more than 12 ppg ... Senior John Papale is shooting 42.7 percent from behind the arc to average a team-high 13.7 ppg ... Junior Eric Fanning is second at 13.5 with sophomore Cheddi Mosely close behind at 12.6 ppg.
• On the defensive end, the Terriers own 45 blocks after tallying 22 total through 12 games last season ... Junior Blaise Mbargorba tallied four against New Hampshire after classmate Dylan Haines earned five at UMass Lowell.
• Senior Nathan Dieudonne (9.0 ppg) leads BU in rebounding at 5.5 rpg with Fanning close behind at 5.3 rpg.
SCOUTING KEAN
• The Cougars are 1-8 and members of the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) with a 0-4 record on the road ... Seven of the losses have been by double digits.
• BU will represent the second Division I opponent for Kean this year ... The Cougars dropped a 107-62 decision at Columbia back on Nov. 13.
• Fifth-year BU head coach Joe Jones served as the head coach at Columbia from 2003-2010 ... Ninth-year Kean head coach Rob Kurzinsky served as the director of basketball operations for Jones in 2005-06.
• Kean is averaging 68.4 ppg and 38.8 FG% ... Opponents are averaging 81.4 ppg while shooting 47.7 FG%.
• 6-foot-3 guard Tommy Soulias leads Kean in scoring at 16.3 ppg.
SERIES HISTORY
• Monday's matchup will mark the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
• BU played one non-D1 opponent last season at home with the Terriers earning a 69-46 win over Wentworth.

• Selected to finish third in the 10-team Patriot League, the Terriers will open conference play at Holy Cross on Wednesday (Dec. 30) at 7 p.m.
