Terriers Battle Yale and Dartmouth on Saturday

The Boston University women's rowing team continued its spring season on Saturday morning, competing against Yale and Dartmouth for the Class of 1985 Cup on the Charles River. Battling windy conditions, Terriers finished second in the V8 ahead of Dartmouth but behind No. 9 Yale.
In the battle for the Class of '85 Cup, the Terriers' V8 boat, coxed by senior Eline Vermeulen and stroked by junior Emily Lerhe, finished with a time of 7:37.10, ahead of Dartmouth (7:40.70) but well behind the No. 9 ranked Yale Bulldogs, who finished the course in 7:12.80 to retain the Cup.
The 2V8 boat, coxed by sophomore Emily Avrick and stroked by freshman Suzanne Greenwood finished with a time of 7:56.40, behind Yale (7:32.60) and Dartmouth (7:53.60).
Earlier in the morning, the day's competition featured fours racing, with the Terriers 4VA finishing third behind Yale and Dartmouth. BU, coxed by sophomore Marlaina Miller and stroked by senior Cydney Marks-Nicholes, finished with a time of 9:05.40, behind Yale (8:14.20) and Dartmouth (9:02.10).
The V4B boat, coxed by freshman Jessica Grossman and stroked by freshman Gemma Junkinsmith, also finished 3rd with a time of 9:32.50
In the last race of the morning's competition, BU's third varsity eight boat, coxed by freshman Erin Gannon and stroked by classmate Colie Toren, faced off against Yale, Dartmouth and Northeastern and finished fourth with a time of 9:16.70.
The Terriers will compete next weekend when they battle Brown on the Charles River for the Gorton Cup on April 18.
