
No. 6 Terriers Set for Eastern Sprints on Sunday

The Boston University men's rowing team will send five boats to the 70th annual EARC Sprints Championships on Sunday at Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass. The Terriers will look to build on last year's historic performance when they advanced all five boats to the grand finals, won their first gold medal in program history and took home three medals overall, the most ever by a BU team at Sprints.
The competition begins at 8 a.m. with heat races in which the top 3 boats in each race advance to the afternoon grand finals regardless of time.
"We look forward to racing on Sunday," said head men's rowing coach Thomas Bohrer. "Our team has prepared well and there is a high level of excitement within the squad. We have had a strong dual season, and we know that the level of racing on Sunday is going to be intense. Crews that we have raced earlier in the season have picked up speed so we need to be bring our best on Sunday."
Racing for BU will begin at 8:10 a.m. when the Terrier's No. 2 seeded 4th varsity eight boat races against No. 3 Harvard, No. 6 Brown, No. 7 Navy and No. 10 Holy Cross.
At 9:00 a.m., Boston's No. 3 seeded 3rd varsity eight will face off against No. 10 Dartmouth, No. 9 Brown, No. 4 Harvard, No. 15 Holy Cross and No. 16 Georgetown.
BU's varsity eight boat will be seeded 4th and will race No. 3 Harvard, No. 9 Penn, No. 10 Dartmouth, No. 15 MIT, and No. 16 Georgetown in the 9:36 a.m. heat. Ranked No. 6 nationally in the USRowing Collegiate Poll, the BU V8 is coming off an undefeated cup-racing season and has an overall record of 8-1 with their only defeat coming against No. 1 nationally ranked California.
The Terriers' next heat of the morning will be when the No. 7 ranked 2nd varsity eight boat takes on No. 1 Princeton, No. 6 Cornell, No. 12 Syracuse and No. 13 Wisconsin starting at 10:12 a.m.
In their fifth and final race of the morning, BU will send out a heavyweight four boat to compete against Georgetown, Penn, MIT, Northeastern and Syracuse in the Fours grand final beginning at 11:12 a.m.

After this weekend's competition, the Terriers will prepare for the IRA National Championships in Mercer, New Jersey on May 29-31.
