August 21, 2015 | Men's Cross Country
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – The Boston University men’s cross country team was picked to finish third in the Patriot League men’s cross country preseason poll that was announced on Friday.
BU earned 124 points, just behind Army West Point, which was second with 130 points. Navy, the two-time defending champion, is the unanimous favorite with 18 first-place votes and 162 points.
Bucknell (118 points) and American (102) were fourth and fifth, respectively, with one first-place vote each. Lehigh (96), Holy Cross (66), Colgate (46), Lafayette (32) and Loyola (24) rounded out the poll.
Senior Alec Olson was an All-Patriot League performer last year, with classmate Kevin Thomas just missing out on the distinction with a 15th-place finish at the championship meet. BU will return four of its five point producers from last year, including junior Mitch Russo and senior Paul Gennaro.
Voting was conducted by Patriot League cross country head coaches and sports information directors who could not select their own school. The 2015 Patriot League Cross Country Championships will be hosted by Colgate University at Harry Lang Cross Country Course in Hamilton, New York on Oct. 31 at 11 a.m.
