Men's Rowing Training Video
Boston University Men's Rowing is seeking athletes who want to balance their academics with competitive ambitions. NO previous rowing experience required.
An informational meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 2nd at 6pm at the DeWolfe Boathouse.
The program enjoyed another very strong season in 2014-15, confirming its place among the premier programs in the country. BU Men's Rowing is a Division 1, highly-ranked program with the objective of winning Conference and National Championships.
Those who have competed successfully in high school sports tend to adapt well to the systematized training, teamwork and time-management necessary in the sport of rowing.
Ideal walk-on rowing prospects will be at least 6'2" and 175 lbs. with an athletic build. Ideal coxswain candidates are an athletic male or female weighing around 125 lbs. within a normal dietary routine. Coxswains steer the boat, provide technical focus for the rowers, and execute the tactical elements for the crew.
Practice is daily from 6:30 - 9:30 a.m. throughout the year. Please take this in to consideration as you finalize your classes.
There will be a two week try-out period starting in early September, shortly after classes begin. Invited walk-ons can then expect to compete in several races during the Fall semester. You may also earn an opportunity to be invited to the Spring Training trip during the March break and may compete in the Spring Intercollegiate racing season leading up to the Eastern Regional and National Championships in May.
If you are interested in joining our team, plan to meet us on Wednesday, September 2nd at 6pm at the DeWolfe Boathouse across the river from the BU campus. Please RSVP to assistant coach Mathis Jessen at mjessen@bu.edu
