It has been such an exciting summer! I've met so many amazing people and got to know the city of Boston. It was a long trip for me coming all the way from Finland but I couldn't be happier that I did! My experience at BU so far has been even better than what I expected.
I graduated from my high school in May. It was really nice to have all of my friends and family celebrate together and to see everyone before I left. The month of June I spent mostly with my family, getting ready to come to Boston for the summer. I also got a chance to coach at two basketball camps in my home city Turku which was a lot of fun!
When I finally arrived in Boston I got to meet all of my teammates who were so nice and welcoming. I honestly couldn't ask for a better team! The workouts during summer were tough sometimes but having my teammates and my coaches support me made them easier.
One of my favorite things during the summer was walking the Freedom Trail with my teammate Sophie. It was a fun way to get to know the city.
It was nice to go back home to Finland for a couple of weeks in August. I was surprised when I got to the airport that my whole family was there to pick me up! The best thing about being back home was that I was able to spend time with my family and friends. I also got to meet my new nephew who was born August 1st. He's the cutest thing in the world!
Back home, I ate a lot of Finnish food, went to the beach with my sisters and hung out with my friends. My sisters and I also tried paddleboarding which was tons of fun!
Now, I'm back in Boston and I couldn't be more excited! Studying and playing basketball at BU is a dream come true for me. It's going to be an amazing freshman year!
