SMITHFIELD, R.I. - The Boston University men's cross country team opened the 2015 season on Saturday at the Nassaeny Invitational hosted by Bryant University.
BU finished third in the 11-team field, led by two top-10 performances. Seniors Kevin Thomas (15:00) and Alec Olson (15:07) were sixth and ninth, respectively. Classmate Paul Gennaro (15:25) took 17th, followed by freshman Alexander Seal (15:27), who impressed on his collegiate debut with an 18th-place finish.
Junior Matti Groll was 27th with a time of 15:42, followed by classmate Ethan Homan (15:56), senior Syian Srikumar (16:19) and freshman Daniel Erickson (16:40).
The Terriers will return to action on Sept. 25 when they take part in the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown, hosted by Boston College at Franklin Park.
