
Terriers Triumph at Army West Point, 76-67

WEST POINT, N.Y. - Highlighted by senior Nathan Dieudonne's third straight double-double and sophomore Cheddi Mosely's team-high 23 points, the Boston University men's basketball team claimed a 76-67 victory at Army West Point on Wednesday night.
Ending their first go-round in the Patriot League, the Terriers improve to 11-11 (4-5 PL), while the Black Knights fall to 12-8 (3-5) after being held to 33.9 percent shooting.
Dieudonne led BU with 17 points and a career-high 18 rebounds, most by a Terrier in more than 15 years, to become the 17th in program history to reach 800 career points and 600 rebounds. Mosely stepped up on the offensive end by draining five 3-pointers to break the 20-point threshold for the first time since Dec. 10 and fourth time overall this season. Finishing with 12 points, senior John Papale added two more treys to moved up the BU record book into a tie for second all-time in made attempts from behind the arc with John Holland ('11) at 255 total.
Former PL Player of the Year Kyle Wilson led all players with 25 points for the Black Knights, while John Emezie contributed 11 points. Larry Toomey nearly had a double-double with seven points and seven rebounds, as BU won the battle at the boards, 45-33.
Facing an early 6-4 deficit, Army had three different individuals hit a 3-pointer during an 11-0 run to pull ahead, 15-6, at 12:34 for its largest lead of the game. Following a called timeout, BU immediately charged back with 11 straight points featuring two Mosely 3-pointers and a deep jumper from Papale.
The teams went back and forth for the rest of the half with 11 total lead changes taking place. Wilson drew contact attempting a last second 3-point attempt and hit all three free throws to enter the locker room tied, 33-33. Army only shot 32.3 percent but managed to create the deadlock by hitting three extra treys and owning a 7-0 advantage in made free throws.
Averaging 20 free throw attempts a game, BU would not receive its first trip to the charity stripe until the 12:08 mark of the second half. Junior Eric Fanning drained two attempts for the 51-46 lead following Mosely's 3-pointer.
The Terriers went 11-of-17 FT (.647) in the second half and grabbed their largest lead (69-59) at 2:05 on two Mosely free throws. Two minutes earlier, Mosely hit a big 3-pointer to prevent Army from cutting the deficit below six points.
Junior Blaise Mbargorba and sophomore Nick Havener combined for five blocks to help lead the defensive effort, and freshman Kyle Foreman helped the Terriers limit the turnovers to just 10 with six assists against zero miscues despite Army pressing late.
BU finished 29-of-62 (.468) from the field and outscored the Black Knights in the paint, 32-18.
The Terriers will next return to Case Gym and host Lehigh on Sunday (Jan. 31) with the CBS Sports Network start time slated for 12 p.m.
