ALBANY, N.Y. – Despite a terrific second half that saw the Terriers outscore Albany, 37-24, the Boston University women's basketball team could not overcome an early deficit and fell to defending America East champion Albany, 69-54, on Saturday night. The Terriers were led by senior guard Sarah Hope, who scored 20 points, and senior forward Meghan Green, who had 11 points off the bench.

HOW IT HAPPENED

2016 America East All-Conference and All-Defensive Team guard Imani Tate recorded 10 points and helped limit BU to 12.5 percent shooting after one quarter for a 25-5 Albany lead.
Senior guard Sarah Hope led the Terriers with nine points in the first half, going 3-5 from behind the arc.
Albany senior guard Cassandra Edwards was perfect in the first half, going 2-2 from the floor, 4-4 from the charity stripe and also added five rebounds as Albany built a 45-17 lead at the half.
Trailing 45-11 late in the second quarter, BU scored 12 straight points, including a 6-0 run to begin the second half, and cut the Albany lead to 45-23. However, the two teams traded baskets for most of the third quarter and entered the final 10 minutes with Albany leading, 55-31.
Led by Green's 11 second-half points off the bench, BU outscored the Great Danes, 37-24, in the second half but could not overcome the large deficit.

GAME NOTES

The Great Danes edged BU in shooting percentage, 48.1-34.7, and had a 34-31 lead in rebounds. Albany went 13-17 (76.5%) from the free throw line while BU went 12-19 (63.2%).
Sarah Hope made six 3-point field goals, falling just short of her career high (7). Her 20 points also fell just shy of her career high (23), both of which were set against URI.

Following Saturday's game, BU will make its 2016-17 debut at Case Gym on Tuesday, Nov. 22, when the Terriers welcome Harvard to The Roof at 7 p.m.
