BU Has Solid Showing On Day 1 Of PL Champs

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - On the first day of the Patriot League Championship meet, the Boston University swimming and diving team tallied four third-place finishes, two each for the men's and women's squads.
After placing fourth in the preliminary round, David Thiede came away with a medal on the day, taking bronze in the men's 3-meter dive to add 16 points to the Terrier total. Three BU divers qualified for the final round and Eric Mitchell finished in sixth place while Cameron Schoffstall placed eighth. In total, BU collected 40 points in the event.
The men's and women's 200 medley relay teams each placed third to give BU the first points of the meet, 32 apiece. The women's team consisted of Isabella Olivares, Erin Nabney, Julimar Avila and Christy Wilde. Quinn Smith, Daniel Andronov, Edwin Angjeli and Brian Habacivch competed in the men's event.
The BU women also took third place in the 800 freestyle relay, as Erin Nabney, Danielle Yoon, Mika Spencer and Stephanie Nasson swam to a school record, re-setting the standard at 7:20.06. The men's team finished the evening with a fifth-place finish in the same event.
Competition continues tomorrow beginning at 10:30 a.m. with the 500 freestyle preliminaries.
