3 Individual Titles Highlight Day 2 of PL Champs

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Three individual titles, three school records and eight personal records highlight the second day of competition at the Patriot League Championships, hosted by Navy, on Thursday. The women's swimming and diving team has a commanding second place standing while the men's team is currently in third place out of 10 competing teams.
Stephanie Nasson kicked the evening off with an individual title in the 500 freestyle, collecting 20 points with a time of 4:47.04. Trevor Winans followed up her performance with a school record-setting time on the men's side, putting the new BU standard at 4:25.96.
After setting a school record in the preliminary round, Quinn Smith won the 200 IM with a time of 1:47.85 to give BU its second gold medal of the meet. Kyra Tatlow rounded out BU's individual champions with a win in the women's 1-meter dive.
The women's 400 medley relay rounded out school record setting performances, as Isabella Olivares, Erin Nabney, Julimar Avila and Mika Spencer swam to a fourth-place finish in 3:44.80, beating the old BU best by nearly two seconds. Avila's 100 butterfly split in the event, 53.58, was faster than the school record time.
Four Terriers set personal records twice on the day, beginning with Grace Anderson, who had a PR in the 500 free prelims before re-setting her lifetime best in the finals with a time of 4:51.24. Winans did the same in the 500 free, finishing the day with his school record time, while Garrett Chin bested his personal fastest time in the 200 IM both in the prelims and in the finals (1:49.02). In addition to her impressive split time in the 400 medley relay, Avila also set a personal best twice in the 50 freestyle, settling on a lifetime fast time of 23.51 seconds in the event.
Alex Ewart also set a career best time in the 500 freestyle preliminary (4:32.79) while Brian Habacivch had a personal best time in the 50 freestyle prelim (20.62). Spencer rounded out Terriers with PRs as she swam to a career best in the 200 IM final (2:02.96).
BU continues competition tomorrow, beginning with the 400 IM preliminary round at 10:30 a.m.
