BOSTON – Led by 20 points from junior Sophie Beaudry, the Boston University women's basketball team defeated Lehigh, 64-50 on Saturday at Case Gym.

BU used a 17-1 run to end the second quarter to turn a three point deficit into a 13 point lead at halftime cruised to the 14 point victory.

TURNING POINT

Trailing 23-20 with 8:50 to play in the second quarter, sophomore Naiyah Thompson hit a 3-pointer to tie the game at 23-23 as BU would go on a 17-1 run to close out the half and head to the locker rooms with a 37-24 lead.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Junior center Sophie Beaudry hit back-to-back layups to cut the Lehigh lead to 15-13 with 2:35 to play in the first. Beaudry lead the Terriers with eight points in the first quarter.
Senior guard Sarah Hope hit a 3-pointer from way outside the arc at the buzzer to help the Terriers take a 20-18 lead after one quarter.
Trailing 23-20 with 8:50 to play in the second quarter, sophomore Naiyah Thompson hit a 3-pointer to tie the game at 23 as BU would go on a 17-1 run to close out the half and head to the locker rooms with a 37-24 lead. BU outscored the Mountain Hawks 17-6 in the second quarter, holding Lehigh to 2-16 shooting (12.5%).
Thompson led the Terrires with 9 points in the first half to help BU build a 37-24 lead.
Beaudry began to take over the game in the third quarter, scoring on three- straight trips after a free throw made it 47-29 BU 5:46 to play in the third.
Lehigh went to a full-court press in the third but were not able to cut into BU's lead as Hope hit another three at the buzzer to make the lead 56-36 at the end of three.
Lehigh outscored BU, 14-8, in the final stanza as the Mountain Hawks continued to press to the buzzer, cutting BU's lead to 14 points for the 64-50 final.

NOTES

Both teams came out hot in the first quarter as BU shot 60.0% (9-15) while Lehigh shot 50.0% (7-14).
Lehigh outrebounded BU, 45-35.
BU shot 41.7% (25-60) for the game and held Lehigh to just 30.8% (16-52).
