BOSTON - The Boston University men's and women's track & field teams will open their 2017-18 indoor season on Saturday at BU's Track & Tennis Center.

"We are very excited to start our 2017-18 indoor season," said Boston University director of track & field Robyne Johnson. "After months of hard work and training it will be great to test ourselves against live competition. We feel all our student-athletes are well prepared and we look forward to Saturday."

Returnees to Watch
  • On the men's side, sophomore Paul Luevano is the defending PL champion in the 3000m run which he won with a time of 8:13.12 at BU's Track and Tennis Center back in February. BU will also see the return of three members of their PL gold medal distance medley relay team with sophomore Johnathon Kemps, graduate student Justin Flynn and junior Alexander Seal all back. In addition, sophomore Brett Davidson will look to improve on his excellent freshman campaign after he won a silver medal in the 5000m run at the PL championships as a rookie.
  • On the women's side, junior Lovie Burleson is the two-time defending PL long jump champion and is also the defending triple jump champion. Burleson was named PL Indoor Field Athlete of the Year in 2017. BU will also welcome back senior Ayodele Adesanya and sophomore Leah Fowlkes, who helped lead the Terriers win gold in the 4x400 meter relay at last year's PL championships where the Terriers finished second as a team.
Newcomers
  • The Terriers welcome 28 freshmen into the program in 2017-18, as 10 newcomers will compete for the men's team this season and 18 for the women.
Up Next
  • After Saturday's competition, BU will host the Mini Meet at the TTC on Saturday, Dec. 9 beginning at 10:00 a.m.
