Balanced Attack Guides Terriers Past Colgate, 62-49

HAMILTON, N.Y. – Behind an all-around balanced effort on both the offensive and defensive ends of the floor, the Boston University women's basketball team stymied Colgate, 62-49, Thursday afternoon at Cotterell Court.
Payton Hauck and Naiyah Thompson paced the Terriers with 13 points apiece, while Nia Irving also reached double-digit scoring figures with 10. Sophie Beaudry hauled down a game-high nine rebounds to go with a nine-point effort, and Katie Nelson dished out a game-high six assists.

- Colgate got on the board first before the Terriers exploded with an 8-0 run to take a six-point advantage with 6:22 left in the opening quarter.
- Kara Sheftic and Thompson closed out the frame with back-to-back makes as the Terriers took a 16-11 command at the end of the first.
- Irving netted the first four points for the Terriers to open the second quarter, pushing BU's lead to 20-11 at the seven-minute mark.
- Katie Nelson made it a 24-15 game with a stop-and-pop jumper in the lane at the halfway point.
- BU took advantage of the charity stripe, putting in its next seven points from line before Irving netted the final basket of the half to put the Terriers in control, 33-17.
- Thompson and Hauck combined to score BU's first 11 points of the second half, giving the Terriers a 44-24 grip on the scoreboard midway through the third.
- The defense stymied the Raiders, limiting them to connect on just 14.3 percent (2-of-14) shooting in the quarter as the Terriers pulled away, 51-30, heading into the final frame.
- BU closed out the game from the free throw line in the fourth to secure the 13-point victory.
