WASHINGTON, D.C. – Playing on the road for the third time over the last four games, the Boston University women's basketball team dropped a 66-50 decision to American Wednesday night at Bender Arena.

- Katie Nelson connected on a jumper from the key to put BU on the board before the Eagles hit back-to-back 3-pointers to take the lead.
- Corrine Williams caught fire, netting 10 straight points for the Terriers to make it a one-possession game at 14-12 with 1:50 remaining in the opening frame.
- American had the final say of the first quarter, hitting a desperation 3-pointer at the buzzer to hold the scoreboard at 20-14.
- The Eagles kept the momentum on their side, opening the second quarter with a 10-4 run to take a 12-point command with 4:06 left in the quarter.
- Williams knocked down her third 3-pointer to spark a 9-0 BU run over the final 3:13 of the half, cutting American's advantage to 30-26 heading into the break.
- Irving began the second stanza with a pair of free throws to make it a one-possession game, but the Eagles responded with an 11-2 run to claim a 39-30 advantage midway through the frame.
- BU answered with a 7-2 run to reduce the deficit to 41-37 after a layup by Irving with 2:47 to go, though American closed out the third with a 12-2 run to stake a 53-39 lead.
- The Terriers opened the fourth quarter with a 6-2 run, cutting American's hold on the scoreboard to 55-45 with 6:15 remaining.
- However, the Eagles pulled away down the stretch to remain undefeated in Patriot League contests.
- Williams notched 15 points, including 13 in the first half, and fell a rebound shy of a double-double, finishing with a game-high nine rebounds.
- Irving led the Terriers in scoring with 18 points and has been BU's top scorer in four of its first seven conference tilts.
- BU shot a season-high 86.7 percent (13-for-15) from the free throw line.
- American improved to 10-4 in the all-time series and is 9-0 against the Terriers at Bender Arena.
