Starting Unit Guides Terriers Past New Hampshire, 60-39

BOSTON – Returning to Case Gym following an eight-day layoff, the Boston University women's basketball team's starting lineup powered the Terriers to a 60-39 win over New Hampshire Wednesday night at Case Gym.

- The Wildcats took advantage of early turnovers to grab an early 6-0 command.
- The duo of Lauren Spearman and Naiyah Thompson combined for nine straight points, though the Wildcats held an 11-9 edge at the end of the opening frame.
- Nia Irving kicked off the second quarter with two straight drives through the lane before Katie Nelson connected from beyond-the-arc to give the Terriers their first lead, 16-15.
- New Hampshire briefly reclaimed the upper hand, but Payton Hauck answered with four straight points, and Irving followed with four straight of her own to put the score at 24-17 with 3:17 left until the break.
- Hauck, Irving and Nelson combined for all 22 of BU's points in the second quarter, giving the Terriers a 31-24 advantage at the break.
- The Terriers caught fire down the stretch of the third, reeling off an 11-3 run to close the frame to make it a 49-33 game.
- From there. BU put the game away in the fourth quarter, holding the Wildcats to shoot just 17.6 percent from the floor en route to its third straight win on its home floor.
- Riley Childs collected a game-high nine rebounds.
- Wednesday marked the first time BU has won two straight games against the Wildcats since 2013.
- It also marked the first time since 2014 that the Terriers have held an opponent to score under 40 points.
- The Terriers are off to their first 3-0 start at home since the 2012-13 season.
- Irving, Nelson and Thompson all shot over 50.0 percent from the floor and scored in double figures.
- BU will close out its three-game homestand on Sunday, Dec. 2 with a 1 p.m. tip against Delaware.
