AMHERST, Mass. – Continuing its four-game road trip to close out the semester, the Boston University women's basketball team could not find its rhythm as it was tripped up at UMass, 66-55, Wednesday night at the Mullins Center.

How It Happened

Chiara Tibbitt connected on two straight jumpers to open the game before Naiyah Thompson got on the board, and Lauren Spearman capped a 5-0 run with a triple to give BU its first lead, 9-6, with 4:22 left in the first.
UMass started to get hot from the floor, connecting on three straight 3-pointers en route to reeling off a 14-4 run to end the quarter.
Tibbitt swayed the momentum back in favor of BU, delivering three straight jumpers to open the second stanza.
Thompson kept the offense rolling as she layed in a feed from Katie Nelson to cut the deficit to 27-22 with just over four minutes left until the break.
The Minutewomen caught the hot hand again to go up by double-digits, but BU utilized the free throw line and ended the quarter on a 6-2 streak, making it a 36-30 game at the half.
UMass scored 11 of its first 13 points in the third quarter off turnovers to further its lead to 49-32.
BU fought until the end, outscoring the host 18-10 in the fourth, but the deficit was too much to overcome as it dropped its fourth straight road contest.

Game Notes

Thompson posted a solid all-around game, leading the team with 15 points and six rebounds.
Tibbitt continues to be efficient from the floor as she posted a 6-8 shooting night for a season-best 14 points.
Spearman also stayed hot from beyond-the-arc, connecting on 4-of-5 attempts.
The senior has hit at least three 3-pointers in six games this season.
BU shot above 50 percent from the floor in each quarter except the third.
The starting lineup accounted for all 55 points.

The Terriers will travel down Comm Ave to Boston College on Sunday, Dec. 16.
Sunday's contest, which starts at 4 p.m., will be the 25th meeting between the two Boston foes.
