BOSTON - The Boston University women's rowing team returned to the Charles River on Saturday morning and lost an extremely close V8 race to Boston College by less than four tenths of a second.

The Terriers' varsity eight battled windy and cold conditions and finished with a time of 7:40.43, just behind BC's time of 7:40.05 in a photo finish.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Varsity eight
In the varsity eight race, the BU V8, coxed by senior Erin Gannon and stroked by freshman Shannon Gallup, battled BC throughout the race as the two boats approached the final 100 meters even. The two boats crossed the line together but after officials at the finish line took a close look at the video, BC was awarded the razor thin race with a time of 7:40.05 to BU's 7:40.43.

Second varsity eight
Earlier in the morning, BU's second varsity eight, coxed by senior Jessica Grossman and stroked by senior Emily Bakinowski, finished with a time of 8:30.01, behind winner BC's time of 8:02.84.

Varsity four
In the first race of the day, BU's varsity four, coxed by freshman Caitlyn Federico and stroked by classmate Stephanie Gold, battled windy and cold conditions and finished with a time of 9:47.45, behind race winner BC (9:02.69).

UP NEXT
After this weekend's competition, the openweight rowing team will travel to Clemson, NC to compete in the Clemson Invite on April 14-15.
