BOSTON - Elizabeth Belanger has been named an assistant coach of the Boston University women's basketball team, as announced by head coach Marisa Moseley Friday.
Belanger comes to Boston after serving this past season as an assistant coach at Southern New Hampshire University. While with the Penmen, Belanger guided the team to a 17-12 record and the right to host an NE10 playoff game for the first time in program history.
Prior to her stint at SNHU, Belanger spent the 2016-17 season playing professionally in Osnabruck, Germany, following a successful four-year playing career at the University of New Hampshire, where she was a two-year captain and a three-time America East All-Conference selection. Belanger posted a decorated career in Durham, tallying 1,453 points, 703 rebounds, 180 assists, 107 steals and 48 blocks. She ranks sixth all-time in program history in scoring and eighth in rebounding.
A native of Acton, Massachusetts, Belanger graduated with a degree in kinesiology from UNH in 2016.
"I am grateful to have Elizabeth Belanger join our staff," said Moseley. "Elizabeth was a standout player at UNH and following a short stint playing professionally overseas, she has begun what I know will be long and successful career in coaching. I am truly happy to welcome Elizabeth home. Elizabeth has a warmth and excitement for the game that I know future Terriers will be attracted to. Her drive to be great and her immense loyalty are just a few reasons why I believe Elizabeth is a wonderful addition."
