BOSTON – Behind a career-high 29 points from Katie Nelson, the Boston University women's basketball team coasted past Northeastern, 72-56, Sunday afternoon at Case Gym in its non-conference finale.
Nelson was on fire once again, connecting on 9-of-13 from the field, with six of those makes coming from 3-point range. Nia Irving also reached double figures, coming just one rebound shy of a double-double as part of an 18-point outing on 7-of-11 shooting.

- Irving took over the post to open the game, netting six of BU's first nine points as the score held even through the first five minutes.
- Northeastern went on an 8-0 run before the Terriers matched the Huskies with their own 8-0 streak, capped by back-to-back 3-pointers by Nelson and Maggie Pina to put BU on top, 17-14, at the end of the first quarter.
- Five different Terriers got on the board to start the second quarter, pushing the scoreboard to 29-21.
- Nelson closed the half with a scoring flurry, netting six straight points over the final two minutes to send BU into the break with a 37-26 advantage.
- Irving and Nelson kicked off the second half with seven straight points, giving BU a commanding 43-26 lead.
- The Huskies worked the fast break and offensive glass, using a 10-2 run to come within single digits, 45-36, with just under four minutes left in the third.
- Riley Childs put an end to the comeback attempt, driving to the lane to put the Terriers back up by double digits for good.
- BU shot both 50.0 percent from the floor and 3-point range in the fourth quarter, picking up its second straight victory on its home court.
- Nelson is 17-for-25 (.680) from the floor and 13-for-19 (.684) from 3-point range over the last two games.
- Additionally, the junior came one 3-pointer shy from tying the program's single-game record for the second straight game, and missed just one shot in the second half.
- BU's starting lineup put in all 37 points in the first half and contributed 65 total points.
- Annabelle Larnard led the Terriers with five assists.
- Nelson, Irving, Childs, Larnard and Maren Durant each shot at least 50.0 percent from the floor.
- The Terriers will open up Patriot League play on Thursday, Jan. 2 at Lafayette.
