Final Leaderboard
ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Freshman Hanako Kawasaki of the Boston University golf team shattered the program's 36-hole record to earn the second victory of her brief collegiate career on Sunday at the Navy Invitational.
Kawasaki shot 68 on Sunday and finished the tournament at -7, seven shots clear of the second-place competitor with a score of 137. She was the only player to complete the 36-hole tournament under par. Kawasaki, who also owns the Terriers' 54-hole record after her victory at the Yale Intercollegiate, broke Emily Tillo's 36-hole record score of 143 by six strokes. She is the first Terrier since Adela Cejnarova in 2014-15 to win two tournaments in the same academic year.
The Terriers secured second place in the five-team field with a total of 607 (307-300), just four shots back of first-place Navy. BU outpaced third-place Lehigh by 23 strokes.
Junior Zhangcheng Guo fired a final-round 77 to finish sixth at 155 (78-77). Classmate Abby Parsons played as an individual and tied for eighth at 158 (77-81). Senior Megan Carter tied for 12th at 159 (81-78), followed by junior Annie Sritragul (79-82) and sophomore Katerina Doleckova (84-77) in a tie for 16th at 161.
Kawasaki and the Terriers will look to take this momentum into the Patriot League Championship hosted by Richmond, which begins on Saturday, April 20.
