The Boston University golf team will look to win the program's second-ever Patriot League title when the Terriers tee off at the 2019 Patriot League Championship, hosted by the University of Richmond at Independence Golf Club in Midlothian, Virginia.
BU has never finished lower than third in this event since joining the Patriot League in 2013-14. The Terriers have thrice been runners-up (2014, 2016, 2017) and placed third last year. Richmond is the three-time defending champion, with the Terriers losing by a combined eight strokes in 2016 and 2017.
The teams will play 36 holes on Saturday before Sunday's final round. All six schools will begin play at 8:30 a.m. on both days, with Saturday's second round slated to start at 1 p.m.
Freshman Hanako Kawasaki carries the most momentum of any golfer in the field, as she won the Navy Invitational this past weekend with a record-setting 36-hole score of 137 (-7). It was the second victory of her brief collegiate career, as the two-time Patriot League Golfer of the Week also triumphed at the Yale Intercollegiate in October. Kawasaki owns a scoring average of 73.87 over her last eight rounds and has not shot above 80 in all but three of her 22 rounds this year.
Senior Megan Carter is a three-time All-Patriot League honoree, having never finished lower than seventh in all three of her championship appearances. Carter's best performance at the Patriot League Championship came in 2017 when she tied for third. Eighteen of her 25 rounds have been at 80 or better, including all three at the Boston College Intercollegiate in September, when she tied for seventh with a career-low score of 221.
Junior Zhangcheng Guo was a First Team All-Patriot League selection last year after she tied for fifth. She was an integral part of the Terriers' team victory at Yale, as she shot a career-low score of 216 (73-74-69) that was capped by a career-low 69 (-2) in the final round. Guo leads the Terriers with 62 birdies this year and has averaged a 75.33 in the final round of tournaments in 2018-19.
Abby Parsons was also a big part of that win at Yale, as the junior carded a career-best 54-hole score of 222 (70-76-76) to tie for ninth, including a one-under 70 in the opening round to match her career-low 18-hole total. Parsons tied for eighth this past weekend at Navy.
Junior Annie Sritragul will make her Patriot League Championship debut this weekend, but she is no stranger to conference tournament play. Sritragul teed it up at the Big Ten Championship in 2017 and 2018 at Nebraska. She is capable of putting together three solid rounds in a weekend, as three times she has carded a score of 228 or lower, including a season-low 222 (75-71-76) at the William & Mary Invitational in September.
Sophomore Katerina Doleckova made her conference championship debut last year and will look to build upon that experience this weekend. She has made 32 birdies in 2018-19 and has posted 11 rounds in the 70s, including a season-low 74 in back-to-back rounds at the William & Mary Invitational.
