RESULTS

WORCESTER, Mass. - Highlighted by a third-place finish in the varsity eight grand final, the Boston University women's rowing team finished third at the Patriot League Championship in Worcester, Mass. on Friday.

BU advanced all of its boats to the grand finals, earning fourth-place finishes in both the 2V8 and V4 races. The Terriers then took third in the final event of the day with a time of 6:32.958, less than two-tenths of a second behind runner-up Bucknell (6:32.798).

Navy finished first in all three grand finals to claim its fifth consecutive conference title. BU finished with 39 points on the day, tied with Georgetown in third place.

HOW IT HAPPENED
 
Varsity Eight

• The Terriers finished second in its morning heat with a time of 6:47.639. Coxed by Julia White and stroked by Shannon McGurty, the Terriers finished behind only Georgetown (6:42.639) and defeated MIT (6:51.519) and Colgate (6:56.127)
• In the grand finals, the V8 battled with Navy and Bucknell throughout the race but could not catch the Mids, who won the race with a time of 6:26.834. BU and the Bison were neck-and-neck right until the finish line, but Bucknell (6:32.79) just edged past the Terriers (6:32.95) to take silver.

Second Varsity Eight

• The Terriers finished second in its morning heat with a time of 7:08.13 and advanced to the grand finals. The 2V8, coxed by Mia Ball and stroked by Sara Kate Rogers, finished with a time of  7:08.131 behind Navy (6:59.303) and ahead of Lehigh (7:12.015), Colgate (7:28.397) and Loyola (8:09.321). In the grand finals, BU finished fourth with a time of 6:52.376, just behind third-place Georgetown (6:52.232) and ahead of Lehigh and MIT. 

Varsity Four

• The V4 took second in their morning heat race with a time of 7:54.326. Coxed by Francesca Viera and stroked by Sydney Blasetti, the Terriers finished behind Navy (7:42.618) and ahead of Lehigh (8:27.886) and MIT (8:50.166) to advance to the grand finals. In the finals, BU finished fourth with a time of 7:46.00, ahead of Lehigh and Holy Cross.

NAVY WINS PL CROWN

• Navy won the Patriot League title for the fifth-consecutive year with 54 points. BU finished with 39 points on the day, tied with Georgetown in third place.
