AMHERST, Mass. – In a thrilling meet that went down to the wire, the Boston University men's swimming & diving team won the final two events to defeat UMass, 155-143, on Saturday afternoon at the Joseph R. Rogers, Jr. Pool.

The Minutemen held a 132-130 advantage when freshman Nathan Herman won the 200-yard IM with a time of 1:55.17 to edge UMass by 0.57 seconds. Sophomore Justin Lee, junior Sarsen Whatmore, sophomore Jackson Olin and junior Ethan Thomas then sealed the team victory in the 400 free relay with a winning time of 3:06.55, as UMass took second at 3:06.94.

The Terriers' ninth and final event victory came after Lee earlier won in the 50 free (21:44) and Whatmore took first in the 200 free (1:43.08). Freshman Dolan Grisbaum led BU with individual victories in both the 500 free (4:39.95) and 1000 free (9:41.11).

Freshman Lyde De Hooghe had a pair of top-two finishes, as he won the 3-meter with a score of 294.53 and placed runner-up in the 1-meter at 251.70. Junior Kyle Falkstrom matched those efforts, winning the 200 breast (2:07.03) ahead of Herman and then taking second in the 100 breast with a strong finish for a time of 58.47, 0.20 seconds behind UMass.

Junior Jacob Lindner led a 1-2-3 finish in the 100 free with a winning time of 47.55, as Thomas and Lee placed second and third, respectively.

Senior Stuart Vickery was 0.01 second shy of adding to BU's win total, placing second in the 100 fly (51.52) following an earlier runner-up finish in the 200 fly.

The Terriers will remain on the road and visit Providence on Saturday, Nov. 6, at 1 p.m.
