HOW IT HAPPENED
- Parker Omslaer followed Michael Makiej's layup with a putback at 17:59 for the early 4-0 lead.
- Garrett Sattazahn's layup gave Gordon a 17-14 advantage with 10:49 remaining, but on the next possession, senior Fletcher Tynen set up junior Garrett Pascoe for a 3-pointer to ignite a 20-3 run capped by Mathon's layup at 5:26.
- The Terriers went into the locker room with a 45-32 advantage and momentarily pushed the lead to 48-34 at 18:38 on a McCoy 3-pointer.
- Facing a 52-41 deficit, Gordon used Makiej's jumper and Tebbs' 3-pointer to pull within six, 52-46, at 14:03.
- The Fighting Scots never got any closer though, as Pascoe assisted on Whyte's 3-pointer and then used his own steal to set up an emphatic two-handed slam dunk to put BU's lead back at double-digits (59-48) with 11:11 remaining.
- Tynen and Whyte hit back-to-back bombs to push the lead above 20 points for the first time at 3:51 (78-57).
- The matchup marked the first-ever between the two programs.
- Mathon previously earned 14 rebounds at Colgate in the 2021 Patriot League quarterfinals.
- Tynen dished out a career-high four assists, while senior Jonas Harper earned two blocks for the third time in his career.
- Whyte is now just 68 points away from becoming the 40th Terrier to reach 1,000 career points.
- Junior Tim Uzoegbu hit his first career field goal, a 3-pointer, and earned his first career block as well in the final minute of action.
- In total, 11 Terriers hit at least one field goal with seven striking from behind the arc for a combined 11 3-pointers.
- BU shot 51.7 FG% and 55.0 3FG% while holding the Fighting Scots to 40.0 FG% and 36.8 3FG%, respectively.
- Gordon last faced an NCAA Division I opponent in 2019 and came up just short at Hartford, 86-79.
- BU will next open a five-game road trip with a short trek to Northeastern on Tuesday (Nov. 16).
- The NESN broadcast is set for 7 p.m.
- The Terriers won their last meeting at Matthews Arena in 2018, 77-74.
